PH McIntyre won his first Sunshine Tour title by defeating Jake Roos in a playoff on Friday at Vaal de Grace.
The Rhode Island ambassador carded rounds of 64-68-68 to finish on a total of 200 (-16) at the Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung at Vaal de Grace. Jake Roos, with rounds of 65-67-68, had yet to lose a playoff on the Sunshine Tour so it was a fantastic effort from the talented youngster.

PH McIntyre now moves to 37th on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit with earnings of R370 000 and most certainly looks forward to the remainder of the season with a surge in confidence. One thing McIntyre mentioned after his opening round could have seen him victorious without a playoff, but as we know golf is a game of if’s & but’s!
“I chipped very well and made a few putts,” said McIntyre, “but it was a pity that I missed a three-footer for birdie on the 18th that would have taken me to nine-under. But I putted well today.” PH McIntyre said. This also marks the second Rhode Island victory in a row on the Sunshine Tour after Louis de Jager claimed the VOG Wild Coast.
Steven Ferreira, a fellow Rhode Island ambassador, also had a great week carding rounds of 69-67-68 to finish in a share of third and his best finish of the 2014 season.
