One of Rhode Island’s brand ambassadors Danie Van Tonder took home his biggest cheque of his career after finishing second at the Tshwane Open.
It was a successful week with Global Golf brands being showcased by it’s players, Rhode Island player Danie Van Tonder fired a final round 66 to climb up the leaderboard ending T2nd and three shots off the winner Ross Fisher. The 22 year old took home just over R2 million for his efforts, which moves Van Tonder up to 3rd on the 2014 Sunshine Tour Moneylist with earnings of R2,6 million.
Van Tonder notched up 19 birdies and an eagle through the course of the week and only dropped one stroke over the weekend at Copperleaf in rainy conditions. He moves onto the Kenya Open this week that is co-sanctioned with the European Challenge Tour, Rhode Island wishes him all the best.
Fellow Rhode Island player Louis De Jager made the cut at the Tshwane Open, but after a somewhat disappointing weekend finished in a tie for 63rd.
