Rhode Island brand ambassador Danie Van Tonder has earned an exemption into the 2014 Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City.
Danie Van Tonder has had a fantastic season on the Sunshine Tour with earnings of R3.45 million in 2014. He gained his exemption by finishing as the number one player on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit on Monday 24 November, if not already exempt. In this scenario Ross Fisher was in fact number one, but he had already received an invitation hence Danie Van Tonder’s invitation.
This serves up an incredible opportunity for the young Titleist player as not only is the last place worth a healthy $100 000, but he will be competing with some of the best golfers in the world at a fantastic venue. The sky is the limit for Danie Van Tonder and one of his most famous sayings to date is “I’m here to win”. If he were to win the Nedbank Golf Challenge it would most certainly open the doors to an international playing career rather than only in Southern Africa. I’ll be sure to use my rangefinder throughout the practice rounds and thoroughly at that!
Danie Van Tonder has recorded two wins, three 2nd place finishes, 13 Top 10’s and sixteen Top 20’s…truly phenomenal.
